Jane su one last stop
So, yes, I can definitely see why One Last Stop has received such rave reviews. August also falls for Jane, the Subway Girl, and the two develop a passionate and intense relationship with an unfortunate deadline looming over their heads like a guillotine, ready to fall at any second and sever their bond. Of course, the exact opposite happens and August finds a family in Myla, Niko and Wes, young adults who have their own quirks and issues yet still have each others’ backs. When August moves to New York, it is under the rigid belief that nothing in life will ever be good and that she’s fated for an existence of solitude, deprived of any kind of love. One Last Stop is about holding a magnifying glass to all the empty spaces in your heart, observing the ridges of that space and then finding people who fit nice and snug into those crevices. Three months later, Jane arrives at Billy’s Pancakes and is reunited with August. He had settled down with a boyfriend and had been happy. August discovers that Auggie hadn’t died in a fire but in a car accident in California. They decide to recreate the power cut/surge thing so Jane can go back on the night of the fundraiser. Jane sees August’s army knife and reveals she knew Auggie–he had died in a fire. August also learns that her grandparents were paying her tuition during school and had left her money after their death. Since Billy’s is closing, they also organise a huge drag queens fundraiser. August also prompts Jane to remember her last day–she had saved one of the Billy’s Pancakes workers and forgotten her bag when the power cut happened. Myla theorises that a power surge on the train caused Jane to disappear. August learns that Billy’s is closing and so is the Q train. August brings the party to the train and kisses Jane for real.
Myla, Niko and Wes have a party with Isaiah, an accountant by day and drag queen by night, and more friends. August falls for Jane but is unsure of Jane’s feelings. August brings her food and drinks and they also kiss to remember Jane’s past girlfriends. Jane seems to have long-term amnesia but activation of her senses helps her remember. August does some sleuthing to learn as much as possible. She talks to Jane and realises Jane has time-travelled or at least been stuck on the train for ages. After being turned down twice by Jane, August finds a picture of Jane on the wall at Billy’s. August grandparents are rich but her mother left them because they didn’t look for Auggie and they don’t stay in contact. August has a rocky relationship with her mother who has used her to hunt down Uncle Auggie (August’s uncle). On the Q train, she meets Jane, a Chinese-American lesbian woman who always wears a leather jacket, listens to cassette tapes and has tattoos. She moves in with Myla (a Black-Chinese engineer grad) and her boyfriend Niko (psychic and transman), and Wes (trust-fund baby who was disowned after he quit architecture school). Twenty-three-year-old August isn’t sure what to expect from New York but it’s most certainly not an eclectic group of roommates, a job at the pancake diner and the attractive woman on the train who she may or may not be falling in love with.Īugust moves to New York to study at a university.
